As we write these words my family, Mom & Dad, my-3-wives, Maile ALL-STUCK living in an analog world which is trying to become digital. In order to defend against constant attacks we sadly turn to our Primal tool-kit and become “Stoners”.  Stoners=Stone-Age modern-humans with an epic mind-set to survive as forager-hunter-gatherers.

One of the earliest “trades” [among many] of the “Stoners” is water-works, simply put, how to proVIDe adequate water for their tribe. Today we call them “plumbers” and they use full sensory smoke-testing to keep the system working.

The most Primal tool-kit and mind-set was totally portable. We carried them around in a water-proof pouch made of animal skin.  As we evolved, we found some special places that were just so rich in resources that we felt it wise to make peace with other tribes … to become involved to hold the best “real estate”.  Over eons it got more and more difficult to defend places unless we involved many-tribes.  The modern-human culture was growing out of control for Stoners. Scribes began to pop-up like “Stone Cannons” and “Healers Weavers” EVERYWHERE!  Our coping-mechanism was to “imagineer” the most Primal mind-set, “GOING APE”  There is nothing cute about an Acute Psychotic Episode!  We ALL have the APE gene implanted very deep.

A bit about Communications and Transportation

Communication and Transportation are the enabling technologies that advance Modern Human culture.

Every so many units of time in history Modern Humans [hereafter called "we"] get-together and develop/copy efficient designs for vehicles, devices that transport people or cargo. Such get-togethers were few and far between in early Modern Human history. Most of them were undocumented and were very loosely organized . . . little more than “Monkey see . . . Monkey do”, since we had only primitive language skills and communicated mostly by the flattery of imitation.

During the Stone Age, somewhere in Africa, we got together on the idea that material that was lighter than water would float and if we climbed on top of that stuff, and the water was calm enough, we could use our hands and feet to steer so boats became the first vehicles.

Many millennia later, still in the Stone Age, we decided to hop onto animals and use their power to get around. Strictly speaking these animals were not be considered vehicles, until we figured out how to control them using devices which we attached to the animals, like saddles and bridles. These new vehicles got around quite fast and were deployed the length of the Silk Route between Europe and Asia in a relatively short time period.

During this time period we had also learned to write or draw pictures of our lifestyle and our vehicles. Less than 10,000 years ago we had a “wheel get together” and pictures of horses, camels and other powerful animals pulling carts, chariots and all manner of wheeled vehicles started popping up in Europe, North Africa, the Levant and the Orient.

We Modern Humans migrated and occupied most of the Earth using various simple vehicles. We tinkered with them over millennium and developed all manner of efficiencies on the basic wheel, as modern culture rolled along.

A noteworthy advance in vehicle technology began a couple hundred years ago with two milestones. Almost simultaneously the first steam rail locomotive and the first cycles were invented.

These cycles and railroads each made giant leaps in technology in the 19th Century. Railroads revolutionized the transport of large payloads across the land. Cycles revolutionized the mobility of modern humans around and between their farms and neighborhoods.

By 1890 railroads, in the US, had developed nearly 164,000 miles of railroad track. The 1890s also became known as the Golden Age of Bicycles largely because of the popularity of “Safety Bicycles”, which incorporated many of the features that characterize the bicycles that we use today in the early 21^st Century.

Back in the 1890s roads were unpaved and there was a clear need to pave as many roads as possible so bicyclists could get around comfortably and efficiently. That was the mission of the League of American Wheelmen [L.A.W.] with over 102,000 members, including the Wright Brothers, Diamond Jim Brady, and John D Rockefeller!

Imagine the excitement at the World’s Fair in Chicago in 1893 when all the great inventors [electricity, mechanics, aeronautics, steam power, [add more] and craftsmen had another “get together” to contemplate the next step in vehicles . . . the “automobile”?

Remembering 1900 the L.A.W. took a dramatic cultural hit when everybody leapfrogged to the motor car. They didn’t have one but they wanted [wish wished-for] one. The numbers off the L.A.W. began a precipitous decline in the late 1890s. By the year 1900 the Automobile Club of Southern California and established the model for the AAA of today.

Cyclists have been a defensive divisive bunch ever since then. We say Cyclists Unite! And a shameless plug for “Better Living through Global Cycling”

I have already, on numerous occasions wrote that IMO the LAW L.A.W. should be the party opposing the TEA party. LAW party vs. TEA party has a nice ring about it!

After what seems like an eternity of squabbling over what to cut or who to tax to chip away at the US National Deficit, a fraction of our National Debt, US “leaders” seem powerless to act. They are locked in media frenzied combat over whether whittling down the “discretionary” budget or taxing the wealthy will save our economy. I say the answer is neither. It is elemental economics on a grand scale.

Any vidiot knows that if your heavily in debt, whether your a homeless person or a business or a nation, than you’ve got to either tighten your belt, find sources of revenue or sell off assets to balance the books.

I carefully studied what in the world the United States had to offer that might be worth 14.5 Trillion dollars? [$14,500,000,000,000 ! ]

We’re in luck because we do have one thing. We bought it for 2 cents an acre from Russia in 1867 in what was known as “Seward’s Folly“, the Gold Rush of it’s day. Today, it is “the least densely populated state of the US” with less than 711,000 people. Many of them are indigenous and will continue to live there no matter who owns it. I am talking about Alaska!

We could whack it off just north of Yakstat and keep the coastline area of the southeast for security or for those US residents who love the colder climes and desire to continue living near our Canadian neighbors. To maintain strategic control of North Pacific sea routes and fishing waters we should also hold onto the Aleutian Islands.

But as to the bulk of Alaska, if we sold it today to the Chinese [who already have made a 10% down payment in financing our National Debt] for $37,000 per acre … lock, stock and barrel … the USA would be out of debt!

The Chinese would get a fabulous resource and life would go on.

What are the objections to selling Alaska? Such sale would certainly provide a fantastic return on investment. [ROI]  We could even save $$$$ on flag replacements by admitting the US territory of Puerto Rico as the 50th State.

Does anyone know if Craigslist is up and running in Beijing, Moscow or Saudi Arabia? These nations all have a vested interested in owning resource rich Alaska. Let them deal with Greenpeace and the Native People of Alaska. They could even subcontract oil extraction of petrochemicals by drill, frack, and pipelines to experienced corporations like Exxon-Mobile.

Whether we like it or not global economics have shifted into “Exclusive Economic Zones“.  The Chinese are currently in a mad dash  to build a Pacific to Atlantic land route with ports for supertankers to tap the resources of the South American economic zone. Alaska is a lot closer to the Chinese homeland.

The US would be debt free and highly motivated to develop the 5M’s of production in NAFTA if they want to avoid becoming a second class economy in the 21st Century. Standard & Poors would undoubtedly raise the US credit rating back to AAA. Think about it?

They are everywhere! Just watch, read or listen to any media via a glowing rectangle and the new breed of BUT-HEADS appear.

How does one recognize them?

Just look for the dividing word BUT and everything that comes after that divide is programmed to destroy your minds!

Be aware that BUT can be cloaked in other terms like “although”, “however”, “in spite of”, “nonetheless”, “still” or hundreds of other dividing phrases. It’s a matter of Semantics. and the technique is ancient.

Their story begins with something “catchy” and rolls along until they insert the dividing pnematic as a device to suck you into their story. If you are an airhead the trick works almost every time! BUT-HEADs can start with a good news story and turn it into doom and gloom with quibble that is tailored for their audience.

BUT-HEADs also like bad news stories like the Gulf Oil Spill [or more recently the Japan-Earthquake-Tsunami] because such stories are pre-confuse with divided opinions, to begin with, that they can comment without having to insert the dividing pneumatic …. SQUABBLE.

Either way they can make a quick story and duck for cover in the cloud of confusion that already exists about the subject. Beavis & Butthead will handle their stories differently. They’ll just tell it like they see it . . . and then  F U © K off!

Dateline – Oceanside, California 7/15/2011

The media are exceeding our earlier projections. Tonight in California the news declare “Carmageddon” while Dianne Sawyer said President Obama calls US budget talks “Armageddon” [just watch the first 30 seconds] and a lot of friends call it “Kharmageddon”. Beavis & Butthead could not come close to this “Mother all no-brainers” which only comes “in an odd number year” as they confuse Michelle Obama and Michelle Bachman.

My Grandma [may she rest in peace] would always say “There’s no buts about it!” ARE WE DOOMED?

It was very unusual to me that the Del Mar [San Diego] County Fair chose “Cruisin’ California” as this years fair theme. Celebrating cars, Cars, CARS, CARS and the central roll they played in developing California and global culture. In 1880 people didn’t have cars. The League of American Wheelmen and the San Diego Fair both began that year.  The L.A.W. as they called themselves, trailblazed many of the roads and highway routes that were later paved over for autos. In 1902 dreams of horseless carriages began to swell across the land. The League of American Wheelmen closed shop and was replaced by the American Automobile Association. The Wheelmen came back and re-incarnated a few times in the 2oth Century, only to be buried when “wheelmen” was deemed to be politically incorrect in the mid 1990′s because it didn’t suit women. Well Navy Corpsmen include both sexes. Worse yet, “bicyclists” does not adequately describe the variety of cycle types that are now deployed across the land. This could become quite the fashion show if all the sexy ladies and surfer dudes show up on their  “cruisers”! Promoting “Better Living through Global Cycling” an important part of my run as a Democrat for President in the New Hampshire primaries.  Why?

My campaign is dedicated to the memory of Al Ryll, pictured below with his families permission, after I was First Responder on his fatal car-rear-ends-bicyclist collision on Maui in 1986. Al’s death in my arms was a moment of catharsis for me. Here’s why!

I was driving to final exams for First Responder Medic training at Maui Memorial Hospital. Cruising down Hana Highway around the Stage Road intersection. Suddenly the traffic was in disarray ahead. Cars parked every which way.

I jumped out of my van and looked at a group of bewildered people, one lady holding a blanket. “Is anyone here a medic?” Nobody

On the ground was a you bicycle vacationer from Washington State, who had just the day before, climbed Haleakala on his touring bike. He was riding east on Hana Highway, which had no shoulder at the time, and was slammed into from the rear by a driver going at normal 55 mph along this dangerous stretch of road. His rear wheel buckled and Al Ryll got that “run-down” feeling.

That began my real life final exam as a First Responder. I had to cut Al’s back pack off in order to get him comfortably on the ladies blanket. When I reached around his torso to remove the pack I could feel that his back was open and internal organs were spilling out. I got him flat and than checked for vital signs while talking loudly to him. He was conscious for a minute or two but was choking up green colored fluid. He muttered something like “Give ‘m Hell” or maybe “I forgive them”. I couldn’t be sure which but that moment went fast as I knew that his breath-way had to be opened before mouth to mouth could begin. [I was thinking to myself in this dawn of AIDS about exchange of bodily fluids.] Instinctively I started mouth to mouth and chest compressions alone for about 5-7 minutes. Than a neighbor, and a lady doctor, Billy Strothers, arrived and helped me by doing the chest compressions until the ambulance arrived. It was more like an Armada. The chief of emergency services of Maui, said “you can stop now and we’ll see how he’s doing.” I replied “We just checked him and he still has a pulse.”

The doctor looked at me seriously and said “If he’s alive than he’ll still have a pulse when you stop CPR. If not you’re just pushin’ blood through his veins and oxygen through his lungs.”

We stopped. The doctor checked his vitals and pronounced him dead. The driver hit and ran. An elderly local man was afraid to stay at the scene for fear that the crowd might hurt him. He turned himself in soon afterwards.  This picture shows what collapsed wheels look like.

I took that sad photo of Al Ryll by sneaking into the ambulance after he was wheeled in. The ambulance crew wanted to strip the film out of my camera but I resisted and got in my van to finish First Responder exam which was held at Maui Memorial Hospital.

By the time I got to class, the word had already reached them what had happened. The instructor asked “Would you tell the class what you experienced. I told the story and cried so hard … I really was traumatized.

In the next few days I’ll show how Al Ryll’s death led directly to a letter to Governor Ben Cayetano on behalf of what I called “Rolling Ducks”… “kind of like ‘sitting-ducks’ except they’re rolling”

The paving of wide shoulders all the way from Kapalua to Ho’okipa and from Wailuku to Makena happened in the next few months.

We can do the same transformation in southern California now! Hope to see y’all cycle cruisin’ around Del Mar circuit. We’ll try to ride as many days as possible during the Fair schedule. Happy Trails for now.

As the blame-game begins Vidiots should take note of Pakistani Prime Minister’s defensive statement “There is an intelligence-failure of the whole world”. I disagree! It is a wisdom-failure of some parts of the world. We assure one and all that there are folks scattered around the globe who could care little about the intrigue of Obama-trump-Osama and the media that profits from cultivating each new controversy to make money!

Margaret Warner, one of the most polished reporters on TV, improvised when she read the teleprompter and clearly announced “One — Vidiot — Videographer came out with a statement today”.

We heard it with our own ears and immediately went to PBS Newshour to view again the video and the transcript.

The exact time in the interview of the “slip” began at 7:10 into the clip. When we scanned down to the “transcript” they changed the words out of her mouth to “One — another — a videographer came out with a statement today saying”.

Perhaps they were afraid to offend videographers because they don’t know the deeper meaning of Vidiot(s), modern humans with mind empty/ready to be filled with new information.

We were watching this report for material on an upcoming article, “The Charity Tax” … coming soon!

If you believe this “Foxy” headline, and the lead paragraph of their story, the Fukushimi Dai-ichi plant accident was the most disastrous peacetime nuclear event in history. THIS IS SIMPLY NOT TRUE!

It indicates the path for “News Corp”, Fox’s parent company, as they move “fast to secure new revenue streams for the media giant.”

Fox is not alone in cluttering our brains with divided truthine$$.

Almost all media has been distilled/reduced to sensationalism, appealing to the prejudices of one group vs. another, in order to make profits. Say it ain’t so?

Will we have to listen to civil conversation for two years until the next presidential election is over? Yikes! With no competition we might as well just close down the New Hampshire Democratic Primary and let the Tea Party have all the fun. Obama can’t debate against himself!

Luckily for the nation “Cruiser Bob” Kiger, known on Maui as the “man with the plan” leaped into the breach with this “Declaration of Candidacy” before the Obama speech.
