Videography finally defined!
Last night, as is often the case, I found myself working late in my videography lab, while watching The Daily Show & Colbert Report. I call myself "vidaddy" because I am the father of the word videography. I find these two shows are on the "bleeding edge" of the creative license with their concept of "fake news".
So at 23:40 hours I watched Colbert's "The Word", which on the December 6, show was "WORDS". This stopped my work, because I was simultaneously finishing the updated definition on my "videography" word. This was such synchronicity that I felt like Comedy Central had a tap on my brain. I later learned that Colbert's word "Truthiness" had just won word of the year according to the American Dialect Society. Videography & Truthiness go hand in hand.
Here at vidiots.us we regularly make reference to living in "The Age of Videography".
Videography, was first presented as the title of a report in the October, 1972 edition of AMERICAN CINEMATOGRAPHER magazine. The report was entitled "VIDEOGRAPHY" What Does It All Mean?
Ever 1972 the world has been skirting around the definition of videography, so I finally decided I had a solid answer to the question I had originally asked. Meanwhile Colbert was doing his usual slice and dice on the president of Fordham University . . . who was trying to explain the importance of free expression :)
Over the day I had also been writing random notes about all the goings on in battlespace videography so here goes:
"VIDEOGRAPHY will provide common ground for all modern humans to use technology wisely to enhance their personal knowledge" . . . their wisdom!
I also wrote: "It is a sad testament to mankind, that as I write these words, the entire "neighborhood" in which Sanskrit flourished is the battlespace for the modern crusades".
My heart ached, years ago, when the Taliban blew up the gigantic Buddha's that were carved into mountains in Afghanistan. It ached more when I saw the pillaging of the Bagdad museums after the US invasion to liberate the Iraqis. The bombing of Haifa and the constant attacks and counterattacks in Jerusalem are hurting everyone on Earth and they must be stopped!
The tactics of civilian aircraft used as missiles, suicide bombers, poisoning food and water supplies and IEDs in our homelands will only beget a fearful call for nuclear annihilation of entire civilizations.
I take heart from today's Iraq study group that is connecting the War in Iraq to the broader middle east culture and calling for "talks with our enemies". . . an ancient diplomatic strategy, which has been largely ignored by the current US administration.
Is the possible that United States administration is beginning to engage in battlespace videography? If so, it's about time! This mornings press conference with Bush / Blair seemed to indicate that they would begin to discuss Middle East solutions with Iran and Syria as soon as those countries agreed with their framework for such discussions. This indicates that they do not yet understand the groundrules of battlespace videography. They are still trying to dominate the agenda in parts of the world with cultures that outdate them by nearly ten thousands years!
There is no military solution to the problems that plague our globe today. To solve "mankind's propensity toward violence" we must use our our shared VIDEOGRAPHY to discover our primal bonds.
The way to stop insane violence is to get the policy makers out of the back rooms and conduct matters of war and peace in battlespace videography. Let every fact, however problematic, be heard freely in the digital domain with the expressed idea of settling our differences using advanced communications technologies.
For more information on this concept see our earlier report entitled "Battlespace Videography".
